Statement on Independent Poll Showing Cotton’s 16% Lead and Democrats’ Continued Unpopularity in Arkansas

On August 18, independent pollster J.L. Partners released a poll taken between August 14–18 showing Senator Cotton leading with 51% and Democrat Hallie Shoffner with 35%.

J.L. Partners poll, August 14–18, 2026: “In the November Senate election, how will you vote?” Tom Cotton 51%, Hallie Shoffner 35%, Not sure 11%, Jeff Wadlin 4%.

J.L. Partners was cited as the most accurate pollster in 2024.

The Washington Examiner wrote about the poll here and the full poll can be seen here.

Breanne Davis, campaign manager for Senator Cotton, stated:

“This independent poll confirms what Arkansans know: Senator Tom Cotton has fought for Arkansas’s values and made Arkansas safer.

Tom Cotton delivered billions in military investments to make Arkansas the defense capital of America, helped secure the border, and always backed law enforcement.

It also shows Arkansas rejects Liberal Democrat Hallie Shoffner’s plan to defund immigration law enforcement, raise energy taxes, and give taxpayer benefits to illegal aliens.

Our campaign takes nothing for granted. Polls vary and the election is the only poll that matters. The left is motivated, and Republicans must stay involved to ensure that the left does not take power in Arkansas.”
